Gang war erupts in Morkai hive city

Steroid Boyz are the toughest gang in the underhive—no question. If the Fem-Girls want a fight, they’ll be sorry.“—Big Rok Anderson, crew leader killed in fight against the Fem-Girls

Imperial Voxcast (6 297 744.M41)—As if the Adeptus Arbites in Hive City Golgenna isn’t busy enough with growing mutant unrest, the city’s Enforcers now find themselves trying to quell a war between two of the larger gangs that infest the underhive.

In the hive cities of Morkai, a desert world to the galactic east of the Belliose System, gang warfare isn’t unknown. But it is usually limited to the crime-ridden Underhive, where city officials choose to tolerate some inter-gang rivalry as an inevitable nuisance.

That changed six days ago, when members of the Fem-Girls—an all female gang—assassinated the second-ranking member of the Steroid Boyz, a gang of former mine workers who are most notable for their propensity for violence and the extensive use of steroids to bulk up their bodies.

The motive for this killing is unclear, but it was provocative enough that the Steroid Boyz responded with a full-fledged assault of the Fem-Girls’ control of the 3rd Water Filtration Manufactorum, an essential if dilapidated facility on Sub-Level 17 of Golgenna,

One local artist’s idolized depiction of the Fem-Girls. Although many gang members flaunt outlandish hair styles and colorful clothes, the reality is that majority of Fem-Girls are scarred, gaunt from hunger, and lacking in hygiene.

The attack left seven Fem-Girls dead, as well as an unreported number of wounded. Seven hours after the fighting began, the manufactorum was under the control of the Steroid Boyz, who proclaimed that their occupation of the facility was now permanent.

“This territory is ours now,” boasted Jaz “Smasher” Krunok, an alleged “enforcer” for the gang. “We ain’t giving it back.”

Lektra Brusa, ganglord of the Fem-Girls, announced her defiance at her opponent’s boasting. Hours later, several explosive devices detonated outside a Storm Boyz barracks, killing three gang members.

“We’re not afraid of those mindless hulks,” announced an anonymously written pamphlet, a common method for Brusa to make pronouncements to the Underhive populace. “The Storm Boyz started this fight. We’ll finish it.”

The next day, the Storm Boyz ambushed a small manufacturing facility used by the Fem-Girls to produce Obscura, a highly addictive and widely popular narcotic.

The Fem-Girls responded by ambushing a group of Storm Boyz while they were collecting protection money from local businesses.

The rising level of violence was condemned by High Marshal Albus Sundvar, commander of all Adeptus Arbites forces on the planet. He announced that he was sending additional resources to the Arbites precinct on Sub-Level 17.

“We recognize that the situation is getting out of control, and our Enforcers will need more muscle to knock some senses into these two gangs,” he said.

That help can’t come soon enough. For the past four days, local citizens say Enforcers in Sub-Level 17 have remained inside precinct headquarters and suspended daily patrols.

“They’re just afraid to tangle with the gangs when they’re frothing at the mouth,” said one community member who insisted on anonymity. “Now we’ll all victims. The gangs are demanding money for the “war effort” and assaulting people at random simply because they need to take out their anger on someone.”

The photo of the fighting gang members is from a diorama displayed at the Adepticon convention. It inspired this article and, as my visit to Adepticon was hobby related, this diorama became a part of the “history” of the Corvus Cluster. I’m sorry I don’t have information to credit the builder.

The artwork of the Fem-Girls was created with AI software from Nightcafe Studio.
